Marcie joined BC&A in 1998 and manages the accounting responsibilities for the firm including accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, payroll and payroll taxes, project reporting and accounts reporting. She is extremely knowledgeable of many accounting software platforms and successfully converted BC&A’s financial systems twice as BC&A’s growth required improved software functionality. She works closely with our clients to ensure accurate project accounting.
Dan Barge III, P.E.
Dan Barge founded Barge Cauthen & Associates, Inc. in 1994 after nearly 20 years with Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon. Dan graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Tennessee. Dan has been an active member of ASCE, NSPE and TSPE as well as The Nashville Rotary Club during his professional career. Dan has built decades-long relationships with several of Nashville’s well-known businesses, educational, and government entities such as: H.G. Hill Realty, Vanderbilt University, Montgomery Bell Academy, Harding Academy, Metro Water Services, Metro Development and Housing Agency, and Metro Planning Commission.
Before joining BC&A in 2012, Heather worked in a variety of environments from business to advertising to education accumulating over 30 years of experience in office administration. She is the face of our front office and assists in providing day-to-day support.
Alex Brockob, E.I.
Alex joined BC&A as an Engineer Intern during May of 2020 after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. During his summer breaks from school, Alex returned home to Dallas, Texas and worked as an intern for an engineering company engaging his coursework and enhancing his software skills in Revit, Civil 3D and AutoCAD. While in school, he mentored engineering underclassmen at UT and engaged with the Steel Bridge Team as an active member of American Society of Civil Engineers. Alex plans on continuing his success in the engineering industry while at BC&A and is eager to work on the diverse projects available at our firm.
Mark Bulger, E.I.
Mark is a North Carolina native graduating from The Citadel in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. After moving to Nashville in 2017, Mark joined the BC&A team as an engineer intern assisting the project managers on a variety of site design projects.
Hunter Calvert, E.I.
Hunter came to us from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a 2021 graduate with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an active member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Working with the TN Department of Transportation during his internship, he gained experience in land surveying while also working along side engineers in bridge construction. Hunter is excited to join BC&A working as an Engineer Intern on various site design projects while pursuing his P.E. license.
Bond Cantrell, E.I.
Bond received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Florida State University, where she attended the joint Florida A &M University-Florida State University College of Engineering. While in school, she was active in the ASCE and the Society of Women in Engineering chapters at her university and held several leadership positions such as the FAMU-FSU Student Liaison to the Florida Engineering Society, and the Vice-President of the FSU French Honors Society. She interned with a civil engineering firm in Tallahassee, where she worked on a variety of projects in North Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Bond joined the BC&A team in 2021 to begin her journey in stormwater, civil site planning and design for various projects in the city of Nashville.
Liza has enjoyed a successful career in office and business management in the civil engineering industry that expands over three decades. She joined BC&A two weeks after its formation in 1994 as “Employee No. 4” and has had the honor of participating in the success and growth of the firm ever since. In 2018, she was named a Partner of the firm and continues to coordinate with the project management team on higher-level administrative tasks that impact the flow of information, communication and productivity.

Justin Eade, E.I.
Justin earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Western Kentucky University in 2011. Looking to make a pivot to civil site development from structural steel design, he joined Barge Cauthen & Associates in 2019 and is collaborating with the design teams of some very notable projects such as Peabody Union, a mixed-use development in the up-and-coming Rolling Mill Hill area of downtown Nashville, and Silo Studios project in The Nations. This project includes the adaptive reuse of a 70,000 sf of vacant warehouse for office, retail, and restaurant space, as well as the multi-family and the single-family developments.
Matt Ellenberger, P.E.
Matt is a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana earning his Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering in 1996. Matt relocated to Nashville to join the BC&A team in 2002. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. His expertise in sportsfield designs and turf products can be seen in stadiums and field renovations designed for the University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, Duke University, as well as multiple track and field upgrades for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Currently Matt is the Project Civil Engineer for the Major League Soccer Stadium and the Fairgrounds Site Infrastructure Improvements.

John Gore, P.E., LEED AP
John joined BC&A in 2001 a few years after graduating from Tennessee Tech University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. John has been involved in some of Nashville’s most notable projects such as: 225 Polk Avenue, Peabody Union, and Peabody Plaza downtown and all of the region’s Hill Centers including the largest Hill Center located in Brentwood. Walkability and thoughtful urban development are important to John. He served as Chair on the Mayor’s Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and is active in the Nashville chapter of Urban Land Institute serving as Committee Chair for the ULI Civic Leadership Forum. In 2018, John became a Shareholder in the firm and continues to excel in his commitment to our clients. In 2020, John Gore received Engineer of the Year Award from the Nashville Business Journal’s Commercial Real Estate Leadership Awards committee for his outstanding contributions to development in the city.
Brent Harrison, E.I., CFM
Brent began his career with Barge Cauthen & Associates in 2016. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering earned with High Honors from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2014 and a Master’s of Science in Environmental Engineering earned from Johns Hopkins University in 2019. Brent is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) and holds his Level 1 Erosion Prevention Sediment Control certification with the TNEPSC. His project background has focused primarily on hydrologic and hydraulic studies for floodplain mapping and analysis, site design, and the design of both stormwater best management practices (BMP) and conveyance systems. Currently, Brent is on the civil engineering team for the MLS Stadium project and Fairgrounds Expo Site Improvements project.
Matt joined BC&A in 1996 as a civil designer and also tinkered with the computers in the office. His aptitude and passion for computer sciences were welcomed at BC&A and led him into creating the position of IT Systems Manager. Matt is wholly responsible for the equipment, systems, servers, communication and software being utilized by the firm.
Jeff Hooper, P.E.
Jeff graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and joined BC&A in 2000. In 2003, Jeff was selected by his peers to receive the prestigious “Young Engineer of the Year” Award by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. He has taken active rolls TSPE, ASCE and was past-President of Engineers Association of Nashville and the Nashville branch of ASCE. Jeff is extremely adept at collaborating with Design/Build team members for large-campus projects such as Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s New Garage and Terminal Building completed in 2019, and the TopGolf Recreational Facility completed in 2017 (an 18-acre development sited amongst several engineering design challenges). Jeff was named a Principal of the firm in 2018.
Sara Hooper, P.E.
Sara graduated summa cum laude in 2001 from Auburn University. In 2007, she joined BC&A and is a project manager for a variety of municipal, institutional, and commercial projects. Sara’s projects include site layout, grading, geometric design, safety improvements, storm water management plans, drainage design and stormwater quality design. In addition, she has experience with both new and reconstructed roadway projects encompassing pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic calming, signage, and pavement markings, parking, and traffic management plans.
Suzanne Jackson, P.E.
Suzanne graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1993 and a Master of Science degree in 1995, both in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University. She is a licensed P.E. and has worked in Chicago and Nashville on projects involving urban and transportation planning and traffic engineering. She joined the BC&A team in 2017 and enjoys working on a wide variety of site design projects that include educational facilities and campuses, industrial warehouses, office and commercial developments, and recreational/sporting venues.
Tyler Kozaritz, E.I.
Originally from the northern suburbs of Chicago, Tyler earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2019. His areas of focus included transportation, stormwater, and construction management. Simultaneously, he was working on his Bachelor of Science in Physics through Illinois College’s “2+3” engineering program, which he completed in December of 2019 as well. Tyler joined BC&A’s Stormwater Team after graduation in January 2020, with experience from prior internships with road reconstruction, storm water, and site development.
A graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology in 1995, Shelley is highly dedicated to working with design teams toward a common design goal. Shelley has worked nearly exclusively for Vanderbilt University since joining BC&A in 2000 on some of the industry’s most notable projects including Ingram Commons, Warren & Moore Residential Colleges, E. Bronson Ingram Residential College and is continuing with two additional Residential Colleges for Vanderbilt to be constructed in the upcoming years. She is savvy with large-campus projects such as these residential colleges as well as the Oak Hill School / Church Masterplanning and Design and the First Presbyterian Church Addition.

Anna Maddox, P.E.
Anna’s career with Barge Cauthen & Associates began in 2007. Anna graduated in 2004 with a degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. She returned to her hometown of Las Vegas for a short time but made her way back to Nashville to become part of the BC&A team. Anna is an active member of ASCE and has been a member of the Metro Stormwater Management Committee since 2013. With experience in commercial, institutional and industrial development, Anna has been involved in a variety of projects such as Kenect Nashville, Virgin Hotel Nashville, Vanderbilt University’s Engineering and Science Building, and MDHA’s Cayce Place and Kirkpatrick Park multi-family homes.

Barry is a native Tennessean with extensive knowledge in the civil engineering industry having decades worth of work experience in surveying and computer aided design and drafting. Barry brings valuable knowledge of land descriptions, plats, deeds, ALTA, boundary and topo surveys, construction plans and as-built documents when he was employed by a surveying company prior to joining our firm in 2005. Since 2005, Barry has enjoyed a successful supportive role assisting all of the project managers with their project submittals and deadlines.

Rachel is a graduate of Miller Motte Technical College and joined the BC&A Team in 2015. She has assisted in the design and development of numerous residential, commercial and government projects for several project engineers. She is highly-proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software and her attention to detail produces useful, legible construction documents for our clients.

Sarah Norman, E.I.
Sarah is 2020 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with B.S. in Civil Engineering. While there she held leadership roles in numerous collegiate design teams such as AISC Steel Bridge Team and the campus chapter of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) utilizing programs Autocad, Revit and Solidworks. Moving to Nashville to join BC&A as an Engineer Intern, she is eager to be involved in a variety of projects while working towards her goal of becoming a licensed P.E.
Barry Quinn, P.E., CFM
Barry Quinn achieved his B.S., cum laude in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1984. He is a Professional Engineer registered in Tennessee and is also a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). Barry began his employment with BC&A in 2007 as Vice President. Prior to that, he was employed by Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon, Inc. in the Nashville and Ohio offices from 1978 through 2007 in various positions. His most recent experience was as the Tennessee Business Unit Leader for Transportation with AECOM, prior to re-joining BC&A in 2019.

Preston is a veteran CAD Designer with a diverse background in civil, utility, and environmental engineering design. He earned an Associates of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Nashville State Technical Institute in 1990, where he was later asked to become a member of the Adjunct Teaching Staff due to his aptitude in computer aided design and drafting. Preston was also part of the teaching faculty for Metro’s Nashville Adult Continuing Education program offered by MNPS. Since joining BC&A in 2000, he has been involved in many types of GIS and mapping projects as well as AutoCAD design for private and public sector projects.

Seth Sparkman, RLS
Seth earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee in 1995 and a M.A. from MTSU in 1999. Since joining BC&A in 2008, he has been the project designer on a multitude of land development projects collaborating from the conceptual/preliminary planning through as-built survey phases. Seth has participated in the design of a diverse plate of projects including the Sewanee Inn, First Baptist Church, Nashville, the award-winning Madison and Smith Springs Community/Fitness Centers, and Mars Petcare U.S. Headquarters located within the acclaimed “Ovation” project in Franklin TN (10-year buildout of 500 acres) that which Seth has been involved with since the preliminary stage of design.

Don Tessier joined BC&A in 2018 with decades-long experience in the civil engineering field. His expertise includes work experience on civil projects in the design of bridges, roadway improvements, civil site layout, aviation authorities, rehabilitation and retrofitting of existing structures. He is proficient in AutoCAD for the designs of civil site development utilizing Civil 3D CAD software for design of subsurface water, sanitary and storm drain systems, also utilizing the software tools for designing of roadways, and surface grading on various civil site design projects.

Richard Williams, P.E.
A graduate of Tennessee Technological University, Richard earned a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering in 1987. Richard joined BC&A in 2015 and has exclusively managed a five-year IDIQ contract for Metro Water Services Division of Stormwater. These projects include working closely with staff at Metro Water Services, investigations of stormwater complaints, discussions with property owners, stormwater calculations, creation of preliminary plans and construction plans, attending community meetings, and project management.

Ryan Woodson, P.E., CFM
Ryan graduated Cum Laude from Auburn University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2012. After graduation, he spent a year overseas as an intern with Engineering Ministries International. In 2018, he moved to Nashville and began his career at BC&A. Ryan is a licensed P.E. in Tennessee and a Certified Floodplain Manager designing a variety of projects including the new Asurion headquarters downtown, the Nashville Warehouse Company mixed-use project and many contemporary, single-family townhomes and condos in downtown and East Nashville.
